Install the drivers for the alesis io26 on windows or Mac, My recommendation is download the iO|14 & iO|26 - Windows Driver/Application Pack v3.0.81.1080; Firmware v1.6 pack and the latest one for MAC..because if you setting it up with windows XP sp2 then you are gona have problems..with the new drivers.. use these drivers.
Once you have the drivers in place, connect the Alesis firewire io26 to your computer.. MAke sure you use VIA chipset Firewire cards on your desktop.. On Mac.. it just works.. DONT NOT INSTALL IO26 on NEC FIREWIRE PCI CARD .. it Really Screws up the whole thing..
Once all are in place.. open the hardware direct monitoring to controll the alesis,
