I am trying to install COMSOL Multiphysics on my Mac running macOS Sierra (version 10.12), but the Setup program does not start.

Download the comsol installer Zip file above and extract the ISO file. Mount the ISO file by Right-Clicking on it and choosing 'mount' (windows) or double-clicking on it (mac). Run the Comsol Installer 'setup.exe' on Windows or 'Install for Mac OSX' on Mac. Select a language. Select New COMSOL Installation.

Solution

This has been fixed in COMSOL 5.2a update 2. Please use the latest installer available from www.comsol.com/product-download.

For COMSOL 5.2a Update 1 (and older versions of COMSOL), please use the following procedure to workaround this issue:

1. Download the COMSOL installation disk image (COMSOL52amac.dmg) or the COMSOL installation DVD image (COMSOL52advd.iso) from the Product download page.
2. Open the downloaded file.
3. Start a terminal window.
4. Drag the 'setup' script file from the installer image and drop it in the terminal.
5. Press Enter in the terminal.
